Research theme Sustainable Chemistry

With catalysis research covering all relevant sub-disciplines, HIMS has a unique place in Dutch chemistry research. This is of great relevance to the development of new sustainable chemical technology. Furthermore, for the next decades it will be very important to develop new catalytic processes using renewals as feedstock.

Adding to the sustainability theme is the research of our biomolecular synthesis groups. This is directed at the development of efficient and selective, diversity-oriented synthetic methodology - in particular organocatalytic and biocatalytic procedures - and the target-oriented preparation of molecules of relevance in chemistry, biology and medicine.
