Probing potential energy surfaces with high-resolution spectroscopy
In research, light can be used actively influence molecular properties, but it can also be used to probe these properties without changing them. In her research, Elena Maltseva uses light to determine the vibrational properties of molecules and how deviations from harmonic behaviour can have a far-reaching consequences on the interpretation of the evolution of carbon in space.
