Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences

Chemistry research that matters

Research at HIMS is organized in four themes, in which we operate at the forefront of the molecular sciences. Our portfolio reflects a healthy balance between curiosity-driven and application-oriented research.

HIMS researchers teach Chemistry students at the Bachelor's, Master's and PhD level. In addition, we contribute to several interdisciplinary programmes offered at the University of Amsterdam.

Knowledge transfer to industry and society is in our DNA. We are always looking for partnerships with industry to identify research questions that matter and turn innovative ideas into reality.
