Keynote lecture by HIMS professor Jan van Maarseveen
28 September 2020
During the one minute video Den Uijl enthusiastically talks about her research for the TooCOLD project: Toolbox for studying the Chemistry of Light-induced Degradation. How can we use knowledge about light degradation in the research of cultural-heritage objects, such as paintings by Rembrandt? And how exactly do we do that?
During the Evening of Chemistry, which will take place online, Den Uijl will have three minutes for a live presentation. With this she will compete with two competitors for the Spotlight Award of Jong KNCV. Attendees of the Evening of Chemistry will determine the winner by means of an online voting.
HIMS professor Jan van Maarseveen will give one of three keynote lectures at the Avond van de Chemie. He will explain why he has shifted his research to sustainability and how important chemistry is for the sustainability transition. Other speakers are Prof. Zhenan Bao from Stanford University and Prof. Jennifer Doudna from the University of California at Berkeley. Bao talks about functional organic materials and Doudna about her work on the CRISPR-Cas technique for DNA modification.
