The recent edition of Angewandte Chemie portrays Fernández-Ibáñez on the basis of a series of personal questions accompanied by a short biography.

This reveals, amongst others, that she chose chemistry as a career because she wanted to be a scientist, to learn new things and to solve scientific problems. However, she says: “Since it was not clear for me what kind of scientist, I decided for chemistry as it is in between physics and biology”. She enjoys chemistry “because every day can be different” and recharges from work by spending a holiday “on the beach, with my family, snorkelling or diving”.
