About HIMS
Research
The core objective of HIMS is to understand and predict the behaviour of molecules in increasingly complex processes and systems. Our portfolio reflects a healthy balance between curiosity-driven and application-oriented research.
Education
HIMS staff provides chemistry education at the Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels. In addition, we contribute to several interdisciplinary programmes offered at the University of Amsterdam.
Valorisation
Knowledge transfer to industry and society is in our DNA. We are always looking for partnerships with industry to identify research questions that matter and turn innovative ideas into reality.
J.H. van 't Hoff
The Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences is named after Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff, recipient of the first Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1901.
