Tolboom’s lecture at ETCC 2024 was titled ‘Advancing Light-Triggered Paint Drying: Increasing Photosensitivity and Performance in Pigmented Alkyd Paints’. He presented his PhD research at the Homogeneous, Supramolecular and Bio-inspired Catalysis research group, where he designs catalysts for light-triggered paint curing in the presence of strongly absorbing pigments.
His presentation was well-received, with the audience asking insightful, high-level questions. According to the jury, Tolboom earned the award because of his clear presentation style and impressive results combined with the ability to address some very difficult questions from the audience.
ETCC 2024 was held 23-26 September at the Avignon International Congress Center located in the historic Palace of the Popes. Featuring around hundred lectures and twenty posters presentations, it offered a forum for scientific and technical information ranging from processing and production, bio-based solutions, to smart coatings, and sustainability.
