The award distinguishes PhD students and postdocs in chemistry or related sciences for their knowledge of scientific information workflows (searching, analyzing and using information). Richelle was selected together with 24 PhD-students and postdocs to further develop his professional skills at the SciFinder Future Leaders meeting in Columbus, OH (US), and to present his recent PhD-work at the ACS National Exposition in Washington, DC (US).
Gaston Richelle obtained his Master’s degree from Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands) in 2013, where he performed his major research internship in the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group of professor Floris Rutjes working on the total synthesis of (-)-Sedacryptine. He then started working as a research assistant in the European Lead Factory consortium for six months, after which he moved to the University of Amsterdam to start his PhD research in the Synthetic Organic Chemistry group under supervision of professors Peter Timmerman and Jan van Maarseveen. He is currently working on the development of novel scaffold-assisted peptide multicyclization strategies.
