"We wish to highlight issues affecting climate and the environment and the pivotal role that sustainable chemistry has to play in solving them", says Raveendran. His role as an editor fits nicely with his expertise in Catalysis, Green chemistry, Reaction Engineering and Materials Science. However, the journal will not only report on scientific and technological matters, he says. "Issues related to climate are complex, involving also social and industrial aspects. Often concerted and cooperative action from different faces of society is required, in particular when you are working towards a decarbonised society or want to mitigate climate change."

Although focussing primarily on the sustainable chemistry solutions related to Sustainable Development Goal SDG13 (Climate Action), the journal Sustainable Chemistry for Climate Action will therefore not only accept scientific articles; it will also be open for perspectives or policy articles from the wider audience. A call for papers has just been published for the first issue on adsorbents and adsorbent technologies for carbon capture and storage.
