On Thursday 13 October, PhD candidate Jorien Duivenvoorden of the Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences and the Rijksmuseum will present her research at the Dutch national 'Evening of Chemistry' (Avond van de Chemie) in Leiden. During this annual meeting, organized by chemistry association KNCV, she competes in the finals for the 'Spotlight' prize of Young KNCV.
Duivenvoorden won her selection with a video-pitch of one minute where she presents her research on the preservation of painted masterpieces in front of the ultimate masterpiece: Rembrandt’s The Night Watch. Image: HIMS.

 

In the historic ‘Leidse Schouwburg' theatre, Duivenvoorden will present a three-minute talk in Dutch on the chemistry of a masterpiece (De chemie van een meesterwerk):

With her presentation, she goes to battle with two other competitors for the Spotlight Award. Attendees of the Evening of Chemistry will then determine the winner.
