Conclusion of UvA-led Marie Curie Innovative Training Network
9 December 2024
The PhotoReAct training network was established four years ago with a European grant of €3.99 million from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The symposium held last week marked the conclusion of the PhotoReAct project, where a total of fifteen PhD students worked together to enhance the applicability and scalability of photochemical transformations.
Prof. Timothy Noël of the HIMS Flow Chemistry group led the PhotoReAct consortium that included ten beneficiaries from academia and four from industry.
The symposium saw about 100 participants exploring and discussing the latest developments in photochemistry. The topics covered included: New synthetic methodologies; New Photocatalysts; Self-directed laboratories and automation; Development of photoreactors; and Scaling up photochemical processes to industrial level.
The inspiring event not only highlighted the progress within the project, but also provided a platform for valuable discussions and new collaborations. It was organized by Damiano Diprima, Pauline Tenblad, and Stefano Bonciolini (all PhD students in the Flow Chemistry group), together with UvA project manager Meike Berkhout and Prof. Noël.
