At HIMS we consider the PhD project as a four year education track in which young talented people get the opportunity to exploit their talents and develop their knowledge and skills. In a 48-month pressure cooker you will be trained as a scientific researcher, with skills that could be employable in many directions in- and outside the academic world. On top of your personal growth, your PhD project aims to advance science and contribute to the society.

Practically, HIMS aims that its PhD students:
1.    finish a thesis within 48 months, and
2.    get a job following their UvA appointment.

There are several important milestones to be met in each PhD track. Information on what to do, which forms to fill in and which meetings to plan, can be found on this page.
